Excel Tip: Formatting with the keyboard

List of Excel keyboard shortcuts used to format your spreadsheet. Ctrl B for Bold, Ctrl I for Italics, Ctrl U for Underline, Alt HFF to change the font type, Alt HFS to change font size, Alt HFG to increase font size, and Alt HFK to decrease font size.

Excel lets you apply multiple formatting features with either the mouse or the keyboard.

Some keyboard shortcuts are intuitive, such as Ctrl B for Bold and Ctrl I for Italics.

Some keyboard shortcuts are not intuitive. For example, Alt HFK decreases the font size.  As shown in the table below with a bit of creativity you can create a memorable mnemonic to help you remember the keyboard shortcut.
